Look Up My Child

The following modern translation of Colossians 3:1-2, in the Message version, has a clear message to us in our "modern" society.

That message is, like the song by Lauren Daigle, "Look up my child" - focus on the bigger picture of the Kingdom of God and His unravelling plans.

It is so easy to get absorbed by all the daily pressures, like an ant crawling around after food. We then fall victim to a very stressful life and to run after earthy security, longevity and rush to the nearest gym to destress and to the spa to detox. No wonder!

Look up! Christ calls us again to Himself (Matthew 11:28-30).

"So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective. Colossians 3:1-2 MSG"

"Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Colossians 3:1 (NIV)"
