This reading and meditation below will make real sense AFTER you read the whole of John chapter 3. Mainly verse 1 to 21.

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. Isaiah 9:2 (NIV) - written from 740 to 700 BC

God took on the form of a human. To banish the darkness in man's soul by shining His light of love on us - forgiving our sin if we repent. He came to banish our fears of life and death. He came to convince us of His personal love for us. He came to call us into peace and give us eternal life.

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. For those who lived in a land of deep shadows— light! sunbursts of light! You repopulated the nation, you expanded its joy. Oh, they’re so glad in your presence! Festival joy! The joy of a great celebration, sharing rich gifts and warm greetings...  For a child has been born—for us! the gift of a son—for us! He’ll take over the running of the world. His names will be: Amazing Counselor, Strong God, Eternal Father, Prince of Wholeness. His ruling authority will grow, and there’ll be no limits to the wholeness he brings. Read Isaiah 9:2-7 MSG
