Soul Food: Three Key Steps To Breakthrough Change

These 3 steps are the first in the 12 Step Programme, translated into today’s language. You may not know but this powerful, global programme had its humble beginnings in the mid-1930s in the USA, as a non-religious, faith-based programme of action, as a direct result of a powerful revival in the USA. This revival resulted in the Oxford Group (UK and USA) that shaped the initial steps to life-change.

The 12 Step Programme “was originally designed to help those struggling with alcoholism, and is now a building block toward sobriety… The overall themes of each of the 12 Steps are: Honesty; Faith; Surrender; Soul Searching; Integrity; Acceptance; Humility; Willingness; Forgiveness; Maintenance; Making; Contact; Service” – www.StepsToRecovery.com

Step 1: ADMIT - I admit I can’t beat this. I tried everything I could. I messed up (in one or more parts of my life).

Step 2: BELIEVE - I can’t do this alone. I’m stuck and I need help. I’m coming to believe a Higher Power can transform me.

Step 3: COMMIT - I open myself to God as my Higher Power and turn my will and life over to His care. I return home to God in humility, seeking His will and the power to carry this out.

You can pray now wherever you are and start this miraculous journey… I did! My life bears testimony since 1973. With a few wobbles along the way.

Admit - “You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule.” – Jesus (Matt 5:3)

Believe - “You’re blessed when you feel you’ve lost what is most dear to you. Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you.” – Jesus (Matt 5:4)

Commit – “You’re blessed when you’ve worked up a good appetite for God. He’s food and drink in the best meal you’ll ever eat.” – Jesus (Matt 5:6)
