Popularly known as Uncle Charlie, veteran R&B singer Charlie Wilson recently dropped his new music/single “One I Got” and it has already garnered hundreds of thousands of views on music streaming sites like YouTube. The song has been described by many as vibrant and optimistic, featuring a familiar sound in its hook which borrows from the famous 1972 single “Ain’t No Woman Like the One I Got” by the Four Tops.

Charlie Wilson has had a successful career in the music industry, doubling as a singer and record producer. Previously the lead singer of the famous the GAP Band, Wilson started his career singing with his brothers. The band is known for songs such as “Outstanding” and “You Dropped a Bomb on Me.” He went on to receive thirteen Grammy nominations after starting his solo career. He also has ten NAACP Image Award nominations to his name, winning two of them. He continues to enjoy his status as one of the most renowned Adult R&B artists, having scooped the No. 1 position back in 2009. He is known for some of his timeless R&B hit songs such as “There Goes My Baby” which topped the Billboard Magazine ranking in 2009. In 2013, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by BET.

A breath of fresh air, “One I Got” just like his other songs, celebrates women. In his music video, Uncle Charlie is featured cruising the pacific and showering his partner with gifts, including a teddy-bear his size. His wardrobe is reminiscent of his GAP band days, featuring a colorful and stylish look. Wilson’s new song comes after his forced break due to the pandemic, but he is back in the studio and writing new music. The song comes after “Forever Valentine”s success, a song which he co-wrote with Bruno Mars, D’Mile and the Stereotypes.
